2 Towns Brand Family Logo Animations

Logo animations for 2 Towns Ciderhouse's family of brands.

During my down time at 2 Towns Ciderhouse I self-started side projects that would be creative, fun, and bring something new to the company's family of brands. Since the marketing team produced a lot of video content, I made logo animations that could be placed on top of any video footage. A logo animation elevates a brand’s visual identity because it conveys personality through movement, increases perceived value & quality, and grabs more attention than static imagery.

2 Towns has grown into a family of craft alcoholic beverages which includes SeekOut Real Hard Seltzer, Bold Leaf Wine, and Nectar Creek Meadery. Each one is its own distinct brand, which was what drove my decision making with the motion design.

SeekOut's logo is the stroke of a paint brush, with paint strokes and fields of paint used throughout its identity. So, I decided to keep this one simple, and make it feel like the logo is just being quickly painted.

The importance of honey in the mead making process is critical to Nectar Creek’s messaging and identity. I wanted to reveal the name with the dripping honey to accentuate that detail and for a bit of whimsy.

After the original Nectar Creek closed, 2 Towns Ciderhouse bought the company and brought on one of the owners. This was created as a teaser on Instagram before the full branding refresh was completed.

I love how the leaf flies out perfectly from the serif of the B in this animation.

Process

The first animations I created were for SeekOut and Bold Leaf. I wanted to quickly create a draft of my ideas to present the project, so I began by making quick GIFs in Photoshop.

Once I was given permission to proceed, I prepped the logo files in Illustrator. Then I imported and animated them in After Effects. Nectar Creek followed next with the teaser and then full logo animation.

I animated the 2 Towns logo last because it was the most complicated. While the animation techniques were simple, I cut the logo into over 30 individual pieces to make the tree grow.
